Wooden model to assemble, part of the DAHIMO series “Il Sogno di Leonardo”. Made of 4 mm laser-cut birch plywood. Each triangular face is built with three glued elements, and the angled joints snap into place without glue, though we recommend gluing them for extra rigidity and long-term durability.
The kit includes 24 triangle segments and 24 connectors, for a total of 48 parts. Assembly is quick, taking around 30 minutes, thanks to the minimal number of pieces. The resulting form is an airy, perfectly symmetrical polyhedron that captures the elegance of geometric purity.
This is the “planus vacuus” version of the classic octahedron, a Platonic solid composed of eight equilateral triangles. The open-frame construction gives it a refined and structural quality, making it suitable for modern interiors, artistic installations, classrooms or museum shops. The design is directly inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s illustrations in the De Divina Proportione, created in collaboration with the mathematician Luca Pacioli.
