Duodecedron Planus Vacuus

The Duodecedron Planus Vacuus is one of the most admired regular polyhedra of the Renaissance. This wooden model faithfully reproduces the geometric structure illustrated in the De Divina Proportione, with its twelve pentagonal faces reimagined as a lattice of interlocking elements assembled with care and guided by the harmonious proportions that fascinated both Leonardo da Vinci and Luca Pacioli.

The kit includes 60 pentagon segments, which must be glued together using PVA glue (not included), and 60 angular connectors that snap into place without glue. This combination of bonded and interlocking parts creates a lightweight yet remarkably stable object. The assembly requires patience and precision, but it is well within reach for anyone eager to explore the elegance of Renaissance geometry.

Once completed, the Duodecedron Planus Vacuus becomes a captivating geometric sculpture, open, airy, and perfectly symmetrical. Its balanced design invites contemplation, evoking the Renaissance ideals of natural order, mathematical harmony, and the hidden beauty of geometric form. It’s no surprise that this model is a favorite in museum bookshops, where it never fails to catch the eye.
